Ed Is Dead

A busy summer for the producer in Ibiza alongside a new album and a very interesting collaboration. He isn’t too busy to sit down for some nosh with LoveFoodIbiza though…

The record you put on in the morning to start the day with a smile…

Ummm a hard one to answer…sometimes I wake up a little “nostalgic” and may listen to things like Canned Heat, Otis Redding or even Chopin….and other times I really need my heaviest side to start the day with energy so Pantera, Q.O.T.S.a or Helmet!

Chopin

Can you cook? If so who taught you to cook? and what’s your specialty?

I’m not a good cook! But I do an “all in” salad which includes goats cheese, sunflowers seed, nuts, bacon and a dressing of olive oil and honey…I love it!.

The perfect breakfast would be…

A big Starbucks white mocha coffee with 6 extra white mocha pumps (yes…I love sugar)

The most unusual thing I have ever eaten…

Mmm,. could be fried crickets in Mexico…so tasty

The dish that reminds me of my childhood…

I haven’t eaten it since then…but I have still in my mind the flavour of a typical Spanish dessert “rice with milk”, but in the way they cooked it in my school lunchroom

Your guilty pleasure food. You know you shouldn’t but you always do…

Mmmm, I basically eat everything I want always…so I don´t have “guilty pleasure foods”- I don’t want to feel like I´m doing something bad!

If you could have a master-class with a celebrity chef, who’d you pick and why?

Ferra Adriá, and I choose him because his particular vision of the food as an art and his incredible mind to change the rules in global cuisine.

The best and worst food you have ever tried at a festival?

About a month ago I ate an incredible Hot Dog with Mexican “carne mechada” and frijoles on the top in a Spanish festival…and the worst may be the typical “birthday” sandwich in all the dressing rooms.

A record that always reminds you of Ibiza…

Might be a compilation of Danny Tenaglia’s called “Back to Basics”…it’s old but is an amazing set!

…what is coming out next from you studio wise and where can we catch you in Ibiza this summer?

I’ve just released my album, Change, so that’s out now. But I´m also doing the final touches to a very interesting collaboration with a world famous jazz piano composer, Ariadna Castellanos which consists of a fusion between jazz, flamenco and electronic music. Also preparing a couple of tracks for dancefloor labels, and waiting for the remixes of my album..so I can say I´m busy…this summer I’ll be in Sankeys, Hard Rock and la Savina in Formentera, so go to www.edisdead.es and you can see the latest dates.
