This is a great lunchtime find if you are looking for fast but healthy food. It’s located just out of Ibiza Town opposite Vila Parc Bowling. Not the most salubrious of locations but it certainly draws in the cool crowd, young media types, hipsters and well known DJs are amongst it’s clientele. It has a funky open kitchen and the dishes of the day laid out on display and served to order, comprising of large bowls of complex salads, grains, vegetables, polenta, chicken and a quiche of the day. They look wholesome, healthy and very inviting.

Eat is Life opened last June by three partners: Paulina Maucecin, Yago Torres and David Collado. Paulina is the driving force behind the restaurant, prior to opening the business she was working on the island as a private chef for celebrities and a top end client base. She has taken her culinary knowledge and inspiration from her travels around the world – India, Sri Lanka, France, Switzerland, Vietnam, China to name but a few. Her partner Yogo comes from a project management and finance background and is currently involved with the infamous Adria brothers new Cirque du Soleil concept ‘Heart of Ibiza’. The philosophy behind Eat is Life came from quite simply a passion for good food. The main purpose was to create an awareness of healthy eating fast food, they have a sugar free policy and use wheat and gluten alternatives. When I spoke to Paulina she explained that she only sources her fruit and vegetables from the island attempting to be Km Zero – and whenever possible, organic.

For 10 euros you can have a ‘balanced plate’ comprising of a protein option with a healthy carb and vegetable salad dish that are cooked and prepared freshly every day. On our visit there we enjoyed chicken with mustard and turmeric, spelt with pesto and roasted tomatoes, tofu with a sugar free teriyaki sauce, chargilled grilled polenta, garlic mushrooms and various salads. These dishes change on a daily basis and that obviously encourages repeat custom. They also have a great selection of guilt free cakes, desserts and brownies following a sugar free and gluten free route. By 2pm every day the place is heaving and there is a true sense of camaraderie in the kitchen which, I hasten to add, is all female. It’s certainly fast food but with care, thought and attention…and also very wallet friendly.
