Angel Moraes
  Brooklyn in da house

Now what is all this we hear from Lenny Fontana about you and your secret sauces you have created?

Ahahaha lol. I made a dinner at Fontana’s house a few months ago, everyone was shocked when they saw what I was making and when they tasted the food. I made kind of a Nobu style dinner with a Caribbean fusion twist, we truly had a great time that evening. Lenny and his wife are wonderful hosts

The record you put on in the morning to start the day with a smile…

There are so many I could mention here, but the first one that comes to mind is always “Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel” by Tavarez. I could listen to that song over and over again, the arrangement, the color, the passion in the way it’s delivered is really magical to me

The best breakfast in the world can be found at…

L’Avenue in Montreal. The eggs benedict and smoothies are to die for

The most unusual thing I have ever eaten…

I don’t know the name of it in English but in Spanish it’s called “espardenias” or another thing would be “percebes”. They are Spanish and Portuguese ocean delicacies and really good

The dish that reminds me of my childhood

NY style pizza. Every time I eat a slice of pizza at home I think about growing up in Brooklyn and all my friends and the street games we use to play

My favourite restaurant in New York is…

Don’t really have one. I like lots of places for different reasons

A DJ that has surprised you with their cooking skills…

To be honest I’ve never been surprised by any of my DJ friends. I’m always the one cooking so I’ve surprised quite a few people hahaha, lol

Your guilty pleasure food. You know you shouldn’t but you always do…

Häagen Dazs chocolate ice cream or milk shakes made with the same and hersheys chocolate syrup. Aaaaaaaaaahh

What is your signature dish?

I have so many dishes that I make, but I guess if you ask my friends it would be my “gambas bravas” or my “fish tacos” Tulum style

If you could have a master-class with a celebrity chef, who’d you pick and why?

Ferran Adrià, I think it’s because he takes simple things and gives them elegance and luster. He has a boundless imagination when it comes to the kitchen and that fascinates me because food is a world unto itself and should always be explored

When I am a DJing extended sets I usually call out for…

Coffee and maybe a piece of chocolate cake

Ibiza…

My favourite restaurant on the island…

This is actually gonna surprise people, although there are quite a few exceptional restaurants on the island my favorite was a chicken rotisserie place that was on a side street behind Pacha. The chicken was insane and the tortilla de patatas was retarded. It was run by an older gentleman and his wife. They retired and sold it to some out of town folks but the place was amazing. I use to go by quite often and you can see him marinating his chicken by pouring cans of beer over it, it was great

The best sunset spot for a cold drink…

Really LoveFoodIbiza? Too many too mention and for different reasons. I strongly suggest finding a nice small calita mini beach) to call your own with a fine young lady you enjoy spending time…and use your imagination

An album you love driving around the island listening to…

Damn you’re really hitting me hard here, haha lol. Lately I travel with a lot of classic dance music so if it lends itself, that’s what I play when popping from place to place

When you think of Ibiza and food you think of…

Pleasure. Absolute pleasure.

A perfect 24 hours in Ibiza would be…

Land 7pm, nap, dinner, horizontal refreshment, disco nap, prepare for gig, rock the hell out of the gig, possibly a couple of after parties, disco nap, lunch, beach, take off!

Also Angel, can you please let me know your DJ plans for Ibiza. Hard Times? Also, what record releases have you May and June?

I will be joining the Hard Times team this season in Ibiza a few times and will be releasing some really cool stuff in the near future with them, including a 20th anniversary edition of “Welcome to the Factory” with a new original version and a few remixes. As far as everything else, I guess you’ll just have to keep track of what I’m doing…
